What has CHAMPS been doing?

Well it’s been approximately 6 months since the Fantastic Four Times Two came together, moved by the Holy Spirit to initiate our Ministry to Men, CHAMPS.

The purpose of Ministry to Men of First Baptist Church of Nogales is to lead the men of our church to become disciples – men who are called to walk with Christ, equipped to live like Christ, and sent to work for Christ. (2 Tim 3:15-17)

So what has CHAMPS been doing?
We held our first Large Group Meeting on Saturday November 8th, 2008. It was attended by over 50 men who were inspired and challenged by our guest speaker, Larry Munguia. Larry is a pastor in Tucson and the founder of the S.O.B.E.R. Project. One man accepted Larry’s challenge and prayed to receive Christ as his Savior and a few months later was baptized in our church. GO CHAMPS! GO GOD!

Small men’s groups are continuing to go strong. We’re looking to start new groups in the coming months. For information to join a small men’s group, please ask a CHAMPS Team Leader.

This year’s Super Bowl Party will be powered by CHAMPS. There will be an all-men’s fiesta at Ben & Bobbie Sauceda’s home. For the family atmosphere, the Hardwicks will host a party at the Tubac Fire Station.

And, finally men, mark your calendars for February 20^th for our next Ministry to Men Fellowship Meeting, If you’re afraid to have someone (led by the Holy Spirit) get down and personally challenge your spiritual walk….you might want to stay home and be considered a Bed Wetter. The speaker is dynamic and on fire for the Lord and wants all men to step up and be the man that GOD wants all men to be—Spiritual Leaders of their homes and their families. We challenge all men to invite a friend, your son (at least 15 years old), or a stranger to come out for a great evening. Wives, encourage your husband to come out and we guarantee to send home a spirit-filled man (if they respond to the Spirit!)

There will be a three week follow-up session to start February 26^th titled “Spiritual leadership in the home”. Looking forward to seeing you there and being a CHAMP!
