I can recall well over a year ago sitting in church and Pastor Dave asking for prayer for a new building for the Sonshine Christian School. As time went on and weeks and months passed and prayers were answered we began to get updates and then news of setbacks and requests for more prayer.
Many of these setbacks were actually answers to our prayers, not on our schedule but on God’s schedule. Although setbacks have been a large part of the building project, major progress has been made.
Just a short walk north of the CE building will reveal the progress that has been made; currently, there is a building standing there. It has exterior walls and doors. Most of the doors and trim have been painted, the block walls have been sealed, and windows installed.
At the time of this report, the roof is partially complete and being finished with steel panels that look like tiles to match our other buildings.
Stepping inside the building reveals what is lacking and what challenges lie ahead. The interior has the greatest need. The steel wall studs are in place but void of drywall.
Most of the mechanical for the heating and air conditioning will be done this week and much of the electrical wiring has been done. The interior work is at a standstill until the roof is complete as per the building inspector.
Much of the labor and major construction such as the foundation, block walls, main roof trusses, and the roof have been done by contractors. But Pastor Dave’s request for men in the church to step up and volunteer time for much of the construction has not only been answered but has saved money.
The men of the church have installed the windows, hung patio trusses, installed all the steel wall studs, hauled tons of block, put sealer on the entire exterior, and painted all the exterior doors just to name some of the volunteer work accomplished on this project.
Pastor Dave would like to thank all the men who have given their time and labor to the project.

Currently the completion goal is for early March. Once the roof is complete, the plan is to move forward with the rest of the interior. Hanging and finishing the drywall and tile flooring are going to be the next major tasks to undertake.
There will be a great need for workers to volunteer time and labor on the rest of the project. There are also 47 interior doors that will need to be hung and painted.
Pastor Dave would like to encourage men to come out and volunteer. It is imperative to stay within budget and to meet the early March completion goal. Please continue praying about the Building Project with emphasis on the budget.
