How CHAMPS Began!

After being positively impacted by God’s Word at a men’s camp in April, several men were convicted by the Holy Spirit about their own walk with the Lord, whether they were allowing the Holy Spirit to lead them to become the Spiritual Leaders of their families, and whether they were making an impact in their community through their church and their circles of influence.

The men left the camp with a hunger to learn more about becoming Christ’s disciples and about living up to the mandate to “make” more disciples. A follow-up workshop was set up for July 12th in Scottsdale, AZ, to be led by the speaker from the camp, Darien Bennett, accompanied by 12 of his men’s group.

As a result of that meeting the group of men decided to do their own study concerning Ministry to Men, meeting weekly throughout the remainder of July & August, culminating in a mini retreat on September 21^st. CHAMPS is currently preparing for the first Ministry to Men meeting where Larry Munguia will be giving his testimony, challenging our men, and introducing the SOBER Project.

Why are we here?

To lead all men to become a disciple.

We will work with men where they are at, in whatever venue that works.

We will provide men with an opportunity to grow into being a follower of Jesus Christ and equip them so that they will be able to contribute.

How can I be a CHAMP?

Guess what? If you come to First Baptist Church you are already part of the Ministry to Men, and chances are that you already are a Champ. How is that? Well, if you are part of any of the ministries like care groups, small men groups, Sunday school, migrant camps, etc… you are a Champ!
